Horizon Surgical Eye Centre is a specialist ophthalmology practice dedicated to providing exceptional patient care in a professional, welcoming and supportive environment. We are seeking a friendly, organised and reliable Casual Medical Receptionist to join our team.
This position is ideal for someone looking for flexible work, whether you're a parent returning to the workforce, an experienced receptionist wanting casual hours, or someone seeking additional work around other commitments.
About the Role
As a Casual Medical Receptionist, you will be an important part of our patient experience, providing exceptional customer service while supporting the day-to-day operation of our specialist practice.
As this is a casual position, hours will vary depending on our consulting schedule. Flexibility is essential, as shifts will generally be offered on the days our ophthalmologist is consulting. The successful applicant will also provide additional cover during periods of annual leave and other staff absences. Flexibility is a must!
Key Responsibilities
Welcoming and assisting patients with warmth and professionalism.
Managing appointments and patient enquiries.
Answering telephone calls and responding to email enquiries.
Processing patient registrations and maintaining accurate records.
Preparing consulting rooms and opening the clinic from 7:30 am when rostered.
Liaising with surgeons, optometrists, hospitals and other healthcare providers.
General administrative and reception duties.
About You
Previous medical reception or specialist practice experience is highly regarded.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Well organised with strong attention to detail.
Confident using computers and practice management software.
Able to work independently and as part of a small team.
Professional presentation and a caring, patient-focused approach.
Reliable, punctual and adaptable.
Availability Requirements
Flexible availability is essential.
Ability to work from 7:30 am when required.
Availability to work on consulting days as required.
Willingness to provide additional cover during annual leave and other periods of staff absence.
